For search processes, The Oertel Group uses its 87-step checklist to ensure the smooth execution of the process. These steps are grouped into the following categories: (a) preparation; (b) job analysis, creation of job description, compensation and benefit packages; (c) recruitment; (d) screening and interviewing; (e) selection and hiring; (f) onboarding/ orientation and transition; and (g) internal and external stakeholder communication. The board and/or task force members that are involved in an executive search should have their focus on selecting the right candidate. We can provide support through each step; support includes identifying the key decision points, providing options that have proven successful in other searches and then completing the administrative support associated with each choice. We use our extensive network in the nonprofit sector and its various fields to help identify quality candidates as well as contacting an organization’s board members, members and other key constituents to identify candidates and then The Oertel Group does follow-up to determine candidate interest in applying.
